Sitting for long periods of time can promote heart disease.  A 15-year study found that waistlines increased by three-quarters of an inch for each additional hour of sitting beyond five hours a day.  “Dang, no wonder I’m getting so fat” I hear you saying. But what can you do when you have an office job where you are sitting all the time?

Both a reduction in sitting and an increase in walking are important to reduce these things from happening to you.

Standing at your job for just two hours could help according to a study in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise. When office workers stood for two hours, they burned 9% more calories than when just seated.

Set a timer on your desktop or an Outlook reminder to remind yourself to stand up!

Also during your breaks, take a walk. It will help!
