Is Sugar Really Bad For You?

Sugar (not counting the stuff found naturally in food) when in excess leads to a higher risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers according to Kimber Stanhope, Ph.D., R.D., a researcher at the University of California. She says “There’s cardiovascular and type 2 diabetes risk independent of weight gain.” There is good news though. You will not likely ever consume dangerous amounts of sugar from fruits or veggies in solid form as they provide fiber to help your body process the sweet stuff. Fruit juice though, some experts believe they may be just as dangerous as sugar.
