Laws of Abundance Part 5 Be On The Right Side Of Interest

There’s a lot of talk about borrowing money vs not borrowing and I’d like to talk about it too.

Credit Cards. Most of us are spending money we don’t have through the use of Credit Cards. It’s perfectly okay to use a credit card to build your credit IF you are paying it off each month in full or if you are under an introductory offer of 0% interest. Just don’t get caught with your pants down when that introductory offer expires and you have a large balance. OUCH!

What we want to do is get on the right side of interest. What do I mean by that? Instead of paying interest, you want to be collecting interest. For example, let’s take Synchrony Bank. The use of their credit card will cost you a whopping 29.99% Annual Interest rate. DOUBLE OUCH if you are on the paying end of that! On the right side of interest with a minimum of $2000, you can get paid 2.75 APY for a 12-Month CD or with no minimum balance a 2.20% APY for their savings account. Opt-out of Credit Card Offers: If you are tempted by credit card offers you get in the mail, the best thing to do is to opt-out of the offers. To do so go to www.optoutprescreen.com which is run by the major credit bureaus. Also opting out of prescreened card offers makes it less likely that and ID thieves will intercept them and take out credit in your name. Your opt-out electronically or by phone (888-567-8688) is good for five years or you can mail in a form to block prescreened offers permanently. (You may still receive offers from companies you currently do business with.) If you miss hearing about card deals, you can opt back in.

One of the things to get on the right side of interest is to create an Emergency Fund with the first goal of $1000, the second goal of 3 months of income, the third goal of 6 months of income, and the 4th goal of 1 year worth of income. Why? Because when something goes wrong, you have the cash to pay for it instead of relying on a credit card or loan. And if you have a job and lose it, you won’t sweat it like you would if you didn’t have a year’s worth put aside. Sweet, stress-free living, with an emergency fund.

Taxes: I’d be leaving out a major part of the puzzle if I didn’t talk about taxes that eat up our earning faster than a New York Minute. If you’re self-employed you’ll want to make sure you are paying your quarterly and if you are an employee you want to make sure your withholding amount is enough to cover all your earnings by the end of the tax year. Owing the IRS comes with penalties and interest (once again on the wrong side of interest) and they have the power to attach your paycheck and take up to 1/2 of your checks until the debt is paid unless you first set up a payment plan with them and stay faithful in paying each month of the agreed-upon amount. The IRS can also put a lien on any property you have too, to secure their money owed.

One tax strategy and extra income strategy is to start your own home-based business with the intent to make a profit. This will give you a number of legal tax deductions that you would not have just being an employee. (See your C.P.A. for details).

Tax Breaks for charitable work: You can deduct unreimbursed travel expenses as a charitable donation if you file an itemized tax return and the trip is primarily for your work with the nonprofit. You can deduct airfare, lodging, meals, and if driving, parking, tolls, and mileage at a rate of 14 cents per mile. Keep a mileage log with the date and reason for the trip. You should also get a letter from the charity confirming your activity and stating that no goods or services were exchanged.

Listen, be real with yourself. If you are like most people, you are in credit card debt. If that’s you, then your first financial priority is to get 100% out of bad debt. I say “bad debt” meaning if you’ve used your credit cards for non-income activities then that is “bad debt”.”Good debt” if there really is such a thing would be considered debt towards creating cash flow. My advise if to get out of all debt ASAP. To be 100% debt-free is the start to your financial freedom! Getting on the right side of interest, and being debt-free will create that financial freedom you are seeking.

Laws of Abundance Part 4 Faith

The Bible says: Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1.

You see, to have faith, you have to have vision. A vision within your mind and heart that sees the manifestation before it’s physically before you. That’s what this verse is saying. You have to see it and believe it as if it’s already here. This isn’t about religion. This is about creating a vision, holding it, believing it, and working toward it until you have it.

What were Jesus instructions on how to pray? Do you know? This is key to having faith. If you don’t know how to pray, your prayers may not be answered. And when we pray, you want your prayers answered, right? So how do you pray? How do you pray where your prayers will be answered?

Jesus said, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” -Mark 11:24 Jesus was teaching us how to have faith. He was teaching us that when we desire something, you are to pray to the Father believing that you will have it! How do you do that? You go back to Hebrews 11:1 You see what you are praying for as if you already have it. The word “hope” here means “to expect, to trust.” Let’s skip to verse 3:
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Do you understand that verse? Everything that you see that was created, the water, the air, the land, the trees, the animals, the insects, everything at first was void, it was not here. It was not here until God by the word spoke it, and it became! While we are not God, we are made in the image of God, and therefore have been created to be like Him in every aspect, including abundance! Think about it. When God made the Earth, did He make a tiny plot of land? Of course not. Did He when He made the trees only make one? No! As a matter of fact, the only single thing God made to start with was Man. Adam by name. Then He made Eve from Adam. Then what was God’s first command? “Go and be fruitful and multiply the face of the earth”. Not just addition, but multiplication! Once again abundance! Why? Because God is a God of abundance. Look around you if you don’t believe me. We can especially see this in our grocery stores in the U.S.A. The other day I was in the store and I saw a whole section of croutons. Those little bread cubes that many of us put on our salad. Well, this section had to have at least thirty different types of croutons. It was mind-boggling. Something so simple and small, yet an abundance of them. Think about Apples. There are 7500 cultivars of apples in the world! I’m glad they aren’t all in the grocery store I go to, I’d never be able to figure out which one I want!

See it, believe it, speak it, and as the prosperity speakers teach “speak it with emotion.” Why emotion? Because when we mix what we believe with emotion, the feeling becomes magnified within us. I wonder what Gods tone was when he said: “Let there be light.” Was it monotone? Was it a tone of boredom? Or perhaps it was a tone of excitement knowing what was to come? How are you when you either make something or are expecting something very good to come soon? Think about it…

Arnold Schwarzenegger was quoted once saying “I’ve only got the things I really wanted. The things I didn’t really want, I didn’t usually get.”

As businessman Ed Mylett says “You were created to do something great.”

Let’s think about this proclamation made by Dr. Dennis Kimbro Teacher and author of Think and Grow Rich a Black Choice: “So if you lived a normal life. What is a normal life? Seventy-four, seventy-seven years on earth. Do the calculus. That only equates to 30,000 days on earth. Time is not running out, but your life is. You’ve been chosen, place your fingerprints on life, and make a difference right now. That’s what it means to be wealthy.” (Quoted from Think and Grow Rich The Legacy Movie).

Don’t lose patience. It’s going to happen. Have faith. It will happen soon enough.

Benefits of Nut Consumption During Pregnancy

Nuts are already known to help reduce the risk of hypertension, oxidation stress, and diabetes and they may exercise a protective effect against cognitive decline in older age.

A recent study published in the European Journal of Epidemiology found links between a diet rich in nuts during pregnancy improved neurodevelopment in the child.

Analysis of the results showed that the group of children whose mothers ate more nuts during the first trimester of pregnancy obtained the best results in all the tests measuring cognitive function, attention capacity, and working memory.

“The nuts we took into account in this study were walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pine nuts, and hazelnuts. We think that the beneficial effects observed might be due to the fact that the nuts provided high levels of folic acid and, in particular, essential fatty acids like omega-e and omega-6.

The weekly average of just under three 30-gram servings. This is slightly lower than the average weekly consumption recommended in the healthy eating guide published by the Spanish Society of Community Nutrition (SENC) which is between three and even servings per week.

Mushrooms to the Rescue of Cognitive Decline

Kind of funny how Mushrooms can benefits us in so many ways. In High School we used to joke about others acting strange and say “Are you smoking magic mushrooms or something?”

This study is from the Department of Psychological Medicine and Department of Biochemistry at the Young Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Three-quarters of a cup of cooked mushrooms weekly may have 50% reduced odds of having mild cognitive impairment (MCI). It was shown that even one small portion of mushrooms (less than three-quarters of a cup) of mushrooms a week may still be beneficial to reduce the chances of MCI.

The six-year study, which was conducted from 2011 to 2017, collected data from more than 600 Chinese seniors over the age of 60 living in Singapore. The results were published online in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Six types of mushrooms in Singapore were referenced in the study

  • Golden
  • Oyster
  • Shiitake
  • White button
  • Tried and canned mushrooms.

However, it is likely that other mushrooms not referenced would also have beneficial effects.

They believe a compound found in the mushrooms called ergothioneine (ET) which is found in almost all varieties of mushrooms is believed to reduce the prevalence of MCI to those that eat mushrooms. “ET is a unique antioxidant and anti-inflammatory which humans are unable to synthesize on their own. But it can be obtained from dietary sources, one of the main ones being mushrooms.”

Black Korean Ginseng- Better than Red for Anti-Inflammatory

This study concluded that Black Korean ginseng (BG) increased anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive (injuries that cause nociceptive pain include:

  • bruises
  • burns
  • fractures
  • pain caused by overuse or joint damage, such as arthritis or sprains

When activated by stimuli, nociceptors notify the brain about the injury with electrical signals sent via the peripheral and central nervous system (CNS). When the brain receives the signals, it has a perception of the pain that’s being felt).

Vitamin D May Improve Memory: But Too Much Can Have a Negative Effect

A Rutgers University study found that overweight and obese older women who took more than three times the recommended daily dose of vitamin D showed improvements in memory and learning. BUT it also slowed their reaction times (when taking 2,000 IU ore more a day) which could increase falling, i.e fractures, and broken bones among older people. Researchers did not understand the cause.

The researchers evaluated three groups of women between 50 and 70 years of age in a randomized controlled trail.

Group A: Took the recommended daily dose of 600 International units (IU), which is equivalent to 15 micrograms of vitamin D each day for a year.

Group B took 2,000 IU per day.

Group C took 4,000 IU per day.

All women participated in lifestyle counseling and were encouraged to lose a modest amount of weight.

The researches found that memory and learning improved in Group B (who took 2,000 IU per day. Group C did not improve with the higher dosage.

Vitamin D is known for its importance for bone health-is obtained through sun exposure and some foods. Researches have also found that vitamin D has a major impact on how the body functions, including the brain.
